Overview

Using sound waves as opposed to radiation to image the body, Ultrasound is one of the fastest growing imaging modalities in medical imaging due to it’s safe and noninvasive qualities.  Much like other imaging modalities, creating quality images is dependent upon the technologist as well as the performance of the equipment.

Ultrasound Physics Testing

A critical component to ensuring ultrasound equipment is performing optimally begins with physics testing of each transducer.  A physics evaluation is a simple way to make sure each element in the transducer array is properly functioning as well as tracking performance and degradation of the probe from year to year.  For those sites seeking accreditation by ACR, AIUM, or IAC, we perform the required annual physics testing and assist in routine QC program development to meet those accreditation requirements.  We perform physics testing for all of Diagnostic Ultrasound, Breast Ultrasound, Echocardiography, and Vascular Ultrasound.  For a complete description of our physics testing, check out our Ultrasound Physics Tests.
