Overview
Nuclear Medicine and PET are unique imaging modalities which utilize radioactive material to image physiological processes. Regulations, accreditation, and oversight are equally unique in the field of Nuclear Medicine but can easily be met with the expertise of a medical physicist.
Health Physics Audits
One of the most cost efficient ways to maintain regulatory compliance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) or Agreement State is to conduct periodic audits of your radioactive materials program. These audits help to demonstrate a well organized and effective radiation safety program. We provide nuclear medicine health physics audits on a quarterly, biannual, and/or annual basis. We commonly assess the following areas during our Health Physics Audits.
In addition to our routine health physics audits, we are also capable of applying for new radioactive materials licenses or renewing existing licenses, submitting license amendments, writing radiation safety policies and procedures, assessing lead shielding, disposing of radioactive sources, and calculating radiation doses to patients.
Gamma Camera & PET Scanner Physics Testing
In compliance with American College of Radiology (ACR) and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards for accreditation, we perform annual physics testing for both gamma cameras and PET scanners. We assess all critical components of gamma camera and PET scanner performance to ensure you produce high quality images as well as meet accreditation standards. We provide all of the necessary test equipment, acquire images and data necessary for submittal, and will submit for accreditation on your behalf.
